Guide on good labelling practices for insect-based feed

IPIFF Guide on good labelling practices for insect-based feed materials

On Thursday 27 June, IPIFF unveiled its Guide on good labelling practices for Insect-based Feed Materials.

Developed by the Secretariat in collaboration with the IPIFF insect feed-producing companies active in the Working Group on ‘feed Hygiene and animal nutrition’ production, the Guide aims to assist insect-producing companies in the implementation of the EU compulsory labelling obligations on animal feed as laid down in Regulation (EC) No 767/2009). Furthermore, it aims to promote good labelling practices for insect-based feed materials, covering specific critical criteria from the Feed Regulation.

Available on the IPIFF website through the following link, the document has been formally endorsed by the IPIFF General Assembly members at the beginning of June 2024 and was formally transmitted to the European Commission services (DG SANTE) and representatives from the EU Compound feed industry (FEFAC) and pet food manufacturers (FEDIAF). The document indeed also aims to match the specific requirements of the purchasers and users of the feed materials.
